Post-Op

So, got my tonsils out about month and a week ago- wasn't the end of me, just pretty damn close. Just a summary of the time:

Went in for surgery December 24 (Yes, right before Christmas)
Surgery took approximately an hour (Was only supposed to take half an hour, max)
Got out, they gave me meds (Gotta love Oxycodon) and I was on my merry after an hour
Until about eight that night I was doing fairly well (Downed a milshake, was talking fine)
Go to sleep, wake up shortly thereafter with my throat feeling as if it had been shot by a gun in every single cell. There is absolutely no way to describe the pain- it just hurt as much as anything has ever possibly hurt me before.
I manage to barely down drugs (the recommended two Oxycodon, supposed to be every 4 hours min at this point) and read for half hour before they finally kick in.
I fall asleep for another three hours before waking up to begin the process all over again.
I somehow make it to the morning (Yes, there were points where I was sure I could not swallow and would die) but can't eat or drink without extreme pain
This continues for about four days, progressively getting worse until about the third, when it gets slightly better. I spent most of those days watching a James Bond marathon.

That was the toughest of it. After that, they switched me to Vicodon and my girlfriend came up, both events making it much more bearable. I couldn't talk well until about two weeks afterwards, and couldn't really eat until about the same time.
